Bristol-based runner Emily Dixon took part in her first marathon on Sunday 17 April and raised vital awareness of MND along the way.
Emily did fantastically well in her first-ever marathon and completed the course in 5 h 41 min – a personal best! Emily was supported by friends and family members, and crucially, received a high five from Zoe Ball (who started the race), to help her to the finish line!
Far from deterred at the somewhat daunting task of completing the 26-mile course, Emily fought through muscle fatigue and hunger (!) to cross the line, making herself and her supporters very proud.
She is pictured taking on some jelly babies for fuel halfway round the course, and in the MNDA tent proudly displaying her medal, at the end of the race.
On top of her incredible personal achievement, Emily has raised over £800 for the MNDA, a proportion of which will go directly to helping people living with MND in the Bristol and Bath area.
Not content with one marathon under her belt, Emily has confirmed she has just signed up for next year’s Brighton marathon!
Good luck Emily and keep flying the flag for MND!
